Volcanic lake Chuzenji with spectacular waterfalls is situated in the upper part of the Nikko

Chuzenji lake – the beautiful lake with the trees growing on the banks, is situated at the foot of the sacred volcano Nantai in the upper part of Nikko. The lake was formed by lava flows of the now extinct volcano several thousand years ago. Now this lake is part of the Nikko National Park.

To reach lake Chuzenji you on a twisting mountain road “of Irohazaka”. The road ascends more than 400 meters and is named “Iroha”, because the original old road consisted of 48 hairpin bends, like needles. The same number of letters contained in the Japanese syllabic alphabet, formerly known as “Iroha”. Uphill and downhill are different roads, which makes this mountain the route is quite safe even when driving large tour buses.

Chuzenji Onsen is a touristy hot springs resort, located in the upper part of Irohazaka road, in the Eastern part of the lake. The most exciting part of the resort is the waterfall kegon no taki. It falls with a height of 97 meters. On the Elevator down to the bottom of the waterfall.

Good panoramic view of the waterfall and Kegon lake Chuzenji can be seen from Attidiya fee, walk accessible on foot or using the cable car.

Tamponi

The Ratanakiri province is located in the North-Eastern part of the country and shares borders with Laos and Vietnam. The population around the lake is one of the eight representatives of national minorities – Tampon (the names presented here are the phonetic transcription of the Khmer alphabet and a variety of sources, the names may vary). They live in five villages. The oldest villagers still remember times when on territory of modern city of Banlung (Ratanakiri) paced the tigers and other wild animals. Campany have their own culture and language that are fundamentally different from Khmer. Traditional houses of the people Tampon are constructed from four kinds of materials: wood base, bamboo walls and floor, the sheets on the wall and the roof and rattan into the ropes. Bamboo walls, as a rule, represent a complex, woven patterns.
